Le Cèdre: The taste of Lebanon, in the heart of Switzerland
What began with a single restaurant in Zurich has now grown into a family of four locations: Badenerstrasse, Bellevue, Nüschelerstrasse, and Interlaken. Behind every plate lies the same conviction that has driven us from the very beginning: that authentic food needs time, good ingredients, and love.
Maurice Houraibi came to Switzerland at the age of 27. No capital, no network, no business plan. Just a deep love for Lebanon and the unwavering conviction that the world deserved to experience its flavors.
He started from scratch. He worked hard, got to know the city, and built trust: table by table, guest by guest. And he cooked. Not to impress, but to share something from home: the warmth of a Lebanese table, the aroma of freshly ground spices, the generosity of a kitchen that always puts a little more on the table than expected.
This drive gave rise to Le Cèdre.
What began as a small restaurant in Zurich has grown over the years into one of the most renowned Lebanese restaurants in Switzerland, with four locations, a loyal clientele, and guests from all over the world. But Maurice has never changed. To this day, he gets up at the crack of dawn, goes to the market himself, and selects the day's ingredients by hand. Not because he had to, but because he never stopped believing that good food begins with the right ingredients.
Le Cèdre isn't an investor's project. It's the life's work of a man who started with nothing and built everything out of passion.
Lebanese cuisine is among the oldest and richest in the Mediterranean. It is generous, vibrant, and always meant for sharing. At Le Cèdre, we cook the way Lebanese families cook: with fresh herbs, cold-pressed olive oil, handmade flatbread, and spices imported directly from Lebanon.
Our mezze platter is the heart of our cuisine: a feast of hummus, baba ghanoush, tabbouleh, fattoush, kibbeh, falafel, labneh, and much more. Dishes that invite you to linger, encourage sharing, and spark conversation.
Our meat products are halal certified.
We are proud to have been an integral part of Zurich's culinary scene for many years. Our three locations in Zurich have become established meeting places for locals and international guests alike, whether for a quick midweek lunch or a festive weekend dinner.
In May 2026, we will open our first restaurant outside of Zurich: Le Cèdre Interlaken. A new chapter with the same promise: authentic flavor, genuine hospitality, authentic Lebanon.
